Vulnerability Self Assessment Tool (VSAT)
NaCTSO and the national network of CTSAs are working on reducing the vulnerability of crowded places sites across the UK. Many of these crowded places consist of small to medium enterprises (SMEs) that may not have necessarily considered themselves as, or even 'part of' a crowded place.
The Crowded Places Vulnerability Self Assessment Tool (VSAT), which has been developed by NaCTSO in partnership with leading businesses across the UK, will assist owners, operators and those responsible for the security of crowded places to determine their vulnerability to attack.
The self assessment consists of 32 questions and should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. It will provide you with an understanding of what you need to put in place to reduce your vulnerability to attack. The online assessment will also produce a report of recommendations. In order to protect your business interest and commercial sensitivities the report will only be available to the individual user (within the VSAT data is protected to the same standards as those used in on line banking applications). The results will be graphically displayed in five easy to view sectors plus an overall aggregated score. The colour coded graphs enable you to rapidly identify where you need to prioritise your improvements.
The VSAT will provide you with:
- Sign posting to best practice
- 12 months Business Continuity Management tool
- Increased local engagement with security experts (CTSA)
- Training Opportunities
- Written assessment report with recommendations covering, Physical Security, Personnel Security, Information Security, Good House Keeping and Risk Management
VSAT will provide a means for you to identify and reduce the vulnerability to your establishment and help protect our communities.
In order to access the VSAT you must contact your local CTSA who will be able to create your account. The only data required to create an account is your email address and relevant crowded place sector (if enquiring through NaCTSO the name of your local police force is also required). This will generate a unique user name and password which will be emailed directly to your nominated email account by 'info@nactso.gov.uk'. (It is advised that you should ensure that your internal email settings do not treat this email as 'Spam'). In the case of larger or national chains, user accounts can be created by contacting nactso@btconnect.com
info@nactso.gov.uk - Please be advised that we have discovered a technical fault within the info@nactso.gov.uk email account that has resulted in lengthy delays in account creations and password issue. This fault has now been rectified and normal service will resume. If you have requested account creation or passwords, your requests will be treated as a priority. Thank you for your cooperation, VSAT Admin Team.
