Euro-Protect 2009
Counter Terrorist Protective Security Course

ACPOEuro Protect 2009 Logolink to Avon and Somerset Police

The Euro-Protect Conference in 2007 was a highly successful joint venture between the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) and Avon and Somerset Constabulary. The event sought to address the key challenge of how we protect Europe form the threat of terrorism, through partnership with the commercial and private sectors.

Further events were planned as a result of feedback from conference delegates, the first of which was a Hostile Vehicle Mitigation Course in March of 2009. Again this was jointly hosted by NaCTSO and Avon and Somerset Constabulary. Counter terrorism practitioners from 17 European Community member states attended.

Hostile vehicle mitigation

Following the highly successful Hostile Vehicle Mitigation Course at HOSDB, Sussex in March of this year, the UK National Counter Terrorist Security Office (NaCTSO) and Avon and Somerset Constabulary are hosting a Counter Terrorist Protective Security Course for practitioners, from 11th to 16th October 2009, in Bristol, UK. The aim is to provide delegates, with a toolkit of skills to enable them to deliver counter terrorist security advice.

The training is intended for counter terrorist practitioners and will give practical guidance on how to identify vulnerabilities at key locations, how to survey sites and deliver structured and risk commensurate protective security advice.
